The Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge volunteer training program starts March 16th with a kick-off orientation. You get pizza and a behind-the-scenes tour! Registration is required -- phone Josie Finley at 360-887-4106 or email her at . New and returning volunteers are encouraged to attend.

Volunteers may attend as many sessions as they like.  New and returning volunteers are encouraged to attend.

The orientation schedule:

March 16—Orientation, tour at 5:30 p.m.; presentation from 7 - 8:00 p.m.
March 20—Cultural education and plankhouse training, 9 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
March 30—Working with kids and environmental education, 9 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
April 10— Habitat restoration, 9 a.m. to noon
April 13—Refuge guide training, 9 a.m. to noon
