Koll Center Wetlands Park Bird Walk
February 18 @ 8:00 am - 11:30 am
Escape the winter doldrums with a Westside birding adventure to Koll Center Wetlands Park! Join naturalist Elaine Murphy and the hosting Backyard Bird Shop of Beaverton for a free tour of this unique area, a wildlife refuge as well as a high tech industrial site. There is the possibility of seeing river otters. Belted Kingfishers, and abundant waterfowl. In the winter you might see a Great Blue Heron, Great Egret in addition to Green-winged Teal, Common Merganser, and Northern Shoveler. In warmer seasons there is the likelihood for seeing up to four types of swallows as they fly about catching insects: Cliff, Barn, Violet-green and Tree Swallows.
To accompany Elaine on the bird walk, we ask that you register in advance by phoning the Beaverton shop at 503-445-2699, press 1. We’ll meet at the parking lot ( Use the parking lot near 8605 SW Creekside Place, Beaverton) at 8:00 a.m. The walk will last 2 – 3 hours. Advance reservations are required—we limit the number of participants to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable and educational experience. Dress for the weather, and, please, no pets!
