
Sauvie Island Bird Walk (Sandhill Cranes)

Explore Sauvie Island on a free expert-guided walk with naturalist Elaine Murphy. Situated between Sturgeon and Steelman Lakes on Sauvie Island. This time we’ll watch for Sandhill Cranes, and can also expect to see grassland, upland, and riparian species.
To accompany Elaine on the bird walk, we ask that you register in advance by phoning the Portland shop at 503-445-2699, and press 3. The walk will last 2 – 3 hours. Advance reservations are required—we limit the number of participants to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable and educational experience. Dress for the weather, and, please, no pets!
Sauvie Island – Meet at the parking lot at the base of the bridge. A Wildlife Area Parking Permit is required for most areas on the island. These may be purchased ahead of time online at: https://myodfw.com/articles/buying-odfw-wildlife-area-parking-permit or on the day of the walk at the Cracker Barrel store next to the bridge parking lot.
