Why do Birds Flock?

They sit together on tree limbs. They arrive at our feeders in a giant whirlwind. Have you ever wondered why birds flock together? There’s safety in numbers!
A flock is like a huge bird with many eyes. A lone bird must constantly keep a watchful eye against predators, but a group of birds can share guard duties and alert the others if danger is near.
Traveling with a flock also increases the chance of finding food sources. A flock of birds searching an area for food is more likely to be successful than an individual bird covering the same area.
